...I am happy to say that I wouldn’t have it any other way. Being the fat kid bullied in class and at home, I grew up with super low self esteem and I thought that I was weird and alone because of it. When I got to college I met so many smart, beautiful and driven fluffy grls who too, had no clue how dope and amazing they truly were. They shamed themselves to no end and me being a dual major in Communications and Women & Gender Studies, I couldn’t help but wonder HOW our perception of self got so screwed up.
Here we were at 19 years old equating our worth to Beyonce and Shakira’s flat stomachs. I mean those thoughts were NORMAL for me but I was baffled that other women felt this way as well. Instead of pondering into my Junior year, I decided to ACT and Fluffy GRL Movement was born.
With the help of some pretty amazing college friends, I created a space where being plus was the standard and where conversations about taboo topics and quirks were amplified instead of being hushed. Flash forward an entire decade and we’re HERE! Same mission, different methods, and we’ve expanded our network to well over 10k fellow bad asses!
Our dedication to the work has helped us secure collaborations with industry giants like Lane Bryant, AT&T and Ann Taylor Loft. From a little girl with low self esteem to a body posi educator with a mogul mindset, the work of Fluffy GRL surpasses me times 10!
